I tested my wife's basic M1 mini around a year ago, and it handled Logic with 3rd party plugins well enough. I don't see why anyone would have multiple apps open during a Logic recording session. (You can even freeze your "star.") The sound file will come out the same. Your computer can do a great many things, but it doesn't actually have to do all of them at the same time. Why ask your CPU(s) to waste their time doing the same now-inconsequential thing over and over again?įor example – if "the star of your show" needs the benefit of a CPU-soaker plugin, "what about those background singers?" Freeze 'em to make room. Once you've finished working on them (for now. Many projects consist of several parallel sections that don't really involve each other, and which you focus-on one at a time. Such that the only way that you can solve the problem is by breaking it down: by planning-ahead on your project in stages so that you do certain things "not 'in real time.'" "Freeze," "Bounce in Place," and other features actually work quite well: Logic's designers obviously realized the importance of this, so they addressed the need quite admirably. Now, having said that: eventually you will run up against some limit of your hardware, no matter how "phat" it is. This is why, of the various other factors, RAM-size is always most important: the computer can't make information available if there is no place to put it, and "virtual memory" in this case is not the same. (Otherwise: "system overload.") It doesn't matter how many CPU(s) it has to work on the data, if the data is not there. Remember: "RAM is the only thing in your computer that is just as fast as your CPU(s)." And: "your CPU(s) can do nothing without it."Īs a so-called "real-time application," Logic, when used in real-time mode, must be able to get whatever-it-needs into RAM before it is needed. I'd say the most significant thing about a MacBook isn't what it can't achieve, but what it can. But I reckon I could just about make it work if I used Freeze on tracks, so they weren't running the plug-ins in real-time. Would I choose a MacBook Pro to handle a plug-in heavy 32+ track mix? Er. They certainly didn't want catch a flight to assemble in one studio for a mass sing-a-thon! The song was a big hit. That was because a lot of singers were prepared to take part, as long as the project came to them. I remember a charity single, more than 20 years ago, where most of the vocal tracks were recorded on a MacBook. It depends what you're trying to achieve, and your budget. However, I completely agree with that RAM is king when it comes to the number of real-time processes a machine can handle. If you want to run LPX on a laptop, the MacBook Pro is really the only machine to buy. What it 'looks like' is not really the point, with respect. Can a computer-like thing, what looks like reminiscent of a monolithic thin client, used in client-server systems, considered studio-ready at all? Maybe it need a application server?

Don’t be alarmed if your snake spends most of its time on the cool or mid-range area boas typically only use the hot spot for digesting after a meal. This will make sure that there is an area of cooler temperatures that your boa can retreat to on the opposite side of its habitat. The best way to create a temperature gradient for your boa will be to place the heat source on one side of the enclosure. Tools for creating the perfect boa constrictor temperature gradient: “Thermoregulation in the boa constrictor Boa constrictor.” Herpetologica 25.1 (1969): 38-45. “Ecological correlates and patterns in the distribution of Neotropical boines (Serpentes: Boidae): a preliminary assessment.” Herpetological Natural History 3 (1995): 1. “Intrapopulation variation in life history traits of Boa constrictor occidentalis in Argentina.” Amphibia-Reptilia 24.1 (2003): 65-74. The hottest areas will be closest to the heat source, and the coolest areas will be farthest from the heat source. The key is to create a full temperature gradient so your snake can warm up and cool down as desired. Do you think that nature always stays at the perfect temperature? Of course not, and these animals are adapted to deal with the fluctuations of their region without getting sick. This temperature range contradicts what most keepers assert as “the best,” but proves that with correct husbandry, these animals are hardier than previously thought. Wild boa constrictors have been recorded active at temperatures as low as 62☏ (17☌) and up to 104☏ (40☌) between the hours of 7am and 7pm, although most of the data is clustered between 90☏ (32☌) and 66☏ (19☌). Experts recommend a 14-hour day during summer and then a drop to 75-78☏ (24-26☌) air temperature during winter, with an 8 hour day. constrictor particularly benefits from seasonal fluctuations in temperature, even if a keeper does not intend to breed. If your room temps get lower than this at night, you will need a thermostat-regulated, lightless heat source to supplement. According to climate data from boa constrictor habitat, boas are likely to be able to easily endure night drops as low as 68☏/20☌. Heating devices should be turned off at night to cause a nightly drop in temperature, which evidence suggests is the best practice for the long-term health of the animal. Overall your boa constrictor enclosure should have different areas that range from 75☏ to 90☏ for a complete thermal gradient. Reptiles are incredible because their bodies can tolerate a wide range of temperatures - in fact, experiencing changes in temperature over the course of a day and depending on location is very healthy for a reptile.īut that’s what life is like for reptiles, and since your boa isn’t in the wild, it’s your job to supply a stable heat source that they can use as needed.īoa constrictors have been proven to do well within this temperature gradient: Reptiles can’t be kept in the same conditions as a dog or cat because they are cold-blooded, which means that they rely on their environment to regulate their body temperature. If your security policy requires you to specify explicit domain or IP ranges, then configure your firewall exceptions for outbound TCP ports 8200, 443, and 80 as well as UDP ports 82 for the GoTo domains or IP ranges, including those of our third-party provider networks. To address this problem, verify that the domains or IP ranges will not be scanned or filtered by specifying exception domains or IP ranges. If your firewall includes a content or application data scanning filter, this may cause a block or latency, which would be indicated in the log files for the filter. Maintenance and failover events within our infrastructure may cause you to connect to servers within any of the ranges. These changes are necessary to continue to provide the maximum performance for our products. Use of IP ranges instead of domain names for the firewall configuration is discouraged unless absolutely necessary because our IP ranges and those of our provider networks need to be periodically audited and modified, creating additional maintenance for your network. I have had a bunch of support cases logged for it but. When we started using and paying for it 5+ years ago it was blazing fast but today it's more or less useless. Also, the client-to-host connection uses peer-to-peer connections, encrypted within an HTTPS tunnel where data is encrypted with AES-256 symmetric cipher. It's so slow and laggy when connected to a client (LogMeIn client from macOS to macOS) that the only use for it is to remote in and start teamviewer. It is recommended to use wild card rules whenever possible while allow listing or blocking any GoTo services on your network as sub-domains of the domains listed above are included. This wasn't a problem and non-4K HDR content (such as SportsCenter on YouTube TV or baseball games in the MLB app) still looked fine. Netflix, HBO Max, Vudu and Apple TV Plus also have shows and movies available in Dolby Vision and Atmos.Īs with other Dolby Vision devices, if your TV supports Dolby Vision, all menus and content are recognized by the TV as that standard regardless of whether the actual service, movie or show is in the premium viewing format. Roku still lacks built-in Chromecast support.Īpps such as Disney Plus support Dolby Vision and Atmos (which makes sense as compatible Roku 4K TVs have had Dolby Vision support for a while), and both formats seemed to play fine on the LG C2 OLED TV. Support for Apple AirPlay remains a nice perk and at least allows Apple users to stream the app from iOS and Macs, while screen mirroring remains an option for most Android users. Roku continues to impress with support for nearly all major streaming services. Strong app support with Dolby Vision and Atmos I still wish there were a way to remove or shorten this countdown but no such option exists in Settings. This takes a bit more time than using either Alexa or Google Assistant, with Roku having a default pop-up and 7-second countdown clock in case you want to stay in the app you are in. One thing that was slow on both the TV and the new Ultra, however, was asking the Roku assistant to do tasks beyond title searches - from looking up a movie to switching apps. Getting it to play The Boys on Amazon Prime video took about 26 seconds on the Ultra, compared with roughly 39 seconds on my older Roku TV. Getting the Roku to play Avengers: Endgame from the home screen took roughly 35 seconds on my old Roku TV compared with just 18 seconds on the Ultra, which benefits from having faster Wi-Fi chips and a better processor than the 2017 TV I was comparing it with (though the Ultra still doesn't include support for the new Wi-Fi 6 standard). When it comes to playback, the Ultra is still fast when you ask for specific titles. Let ARC/eARC do its job with your AVR.It also had a hard time understanding, "Play Moon Knight, Episode 1" and instead kept pulling up cartoons with "Midnight" in the title.Īs Roku's streamer already works with both platforms, it would be great to see Roku add support for Alexa or Google Assistant directly to the software in the future. If you're using ARC or eARC, don't also use a sound cable. Note that both ARC and eARC obviate the need to use a separate coaxial (copper) or TOSLINK (optical) sound cable. Way too often I've seen a bargain cable completely hose an otherwise high-end set of gear. The Roku's power/volume controls can be configured to control TVs/AVRs however, this is dependent on how the Roku is connected, how the HT is connected, the CEC capabilities of the TV/AVR, whether the TV/AVR is on/off at the time the remote is programmed, etc. If the control stuff still doesn't work, it's worth trying another cable as I said above. Re: Controlling Audio Level with Roku Remote with Denon Av Receiver and Projector. If your AVR has only an ARC port, your current HDMI cable will probably work fine. If you use an incompatible cable, it will "work" since the eARC standard provides for fallback to the lower bandwidth protocol, ARC (Audio Return Channel), but you'll be missing out on the additional eARC sound features (Atmos, uncompressed 5.1 and 7.1). Rarely, a cheaper, non-certified HDMI cable will not meet the requirements for CEC, so if the steps above don't allow you to control volume and mute on the AVR with your ROKU remote, try swapping out the HDMI cable with a newer, certified cable.Īlso (two big "IFs" here) IF your AVR has an HDMI eARC IN port, and IF your ROKU model supports eARC, you'll want to use a cable that's labeled "ULTRA high speed" or "HDI with Ethernet" or "HDMI 2.1." as eARC has the most stringent requirements. Scroll to " Control other devices (CEC)" and tick the boxes to enable both "System audio control" and "1-Touch play." In your ROKU, go to Home->Settings->System. In your AVR, go to Settings->HDMI setup->HDMI control (this is the Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) setting) and make sure it's set to ON. I have a similar setup to yours and it works well. This is my favorite commander of them all. While there aren’t many good mutate cards in red outside of Everquill Phoenix, you get access to powerful removal and other cards like Fable of the Mirror-Breaker that are proven to be solid staples of multiple formats. Uril, the Miststalkerįollowing the thread of good commanders to mutate into, Uril, the Miststalker is an excellent addition to have because you get access to a third color. If you start placing multiple mutate creatures on Sigarda like Auspicious Starrix, Gemrazer, and Sawtusk Demolisher, you’ll soon start to create value with a hexproof flier that can’t be answered cleanly with regular removal. It fits very well with them as Sigarda, Host of Herons has hexproof, meaning opponents won’t be able to interact with it. This is the first commander on the list that doesn’t have a mutate ability, but it’s a great mutate target. That’s a lot of value and power per card, which is certain to pull you ahead over time. Ivy, Gleeful Spellthief actually has some use in mutate strategies! The single-target trigger works with mutate, meaning you get double mutates! One goes to the primary creature being targeted, and the copy goes to Ivy. There are multiple other mutate cards in this color pair, like Everquill Phoenix, Necropanther, and Dirge Bat, that are extremely good, and they should be taken into account when building a Snapdax deck. Snapdax, Apex of the Hunt is a more aggressive commander that can be used in reanimator shells given the colors it has. Speaking of planeswalkers, there are some like Saheeli, Sublime Artificer that go particularly well with Vadrok because they can create creatures that Vadrok can mutate into later even if the planeswalker dies. While it may not be a good idea, aside from casting sorceries for free, it can return valuable artifacts, enchantments, and even planeswalkers to the battlefield that meet the criteria. But jokes and lore aside, it can return non-creature cards and you get to cast them for free. I like Vadrok, Apex of Thunder for all of the wrong reasons: it nuked Lukka. While some of them can act as pseudo- Voltron strategies, there are multiple other playstyles mutate commanders can have. Mutate commanders are legendary creatures with this ability, so they can mutate into others directly from the command zone as an alternative casting cost.įor this article, I’ll also include a few commanders who are also great mutate targets and that enable powerful combinations. The creature that mutates has the combined abilities of both creatures and the body of the creature of your choice. Mutate allows you to cast a creature spell for its mutate cost into another non- human creature. Ukraine Accuses Russia of Launching ‘Middle Finger’ Attack during U.N. 1 The contract guarantees that Fincantieri will build the lead ship (the first ship designed for a class) and gives the Navy options to build as many as nine additional ships. Diplomats will Return to Ukraine, Blinken Announces from Kyiv The Russian Defense Ministry said one of its frigates had conducted hypersonic missile exercises in the western part of the Atlantic Ocean. On April 30, 2020, the Navy awarded Fincantieri Marinette Marine a contract to build the Navy’s new surface combatant, a guided missile frigate long designated as FFG(X). Two other ships of her class, the Admiral Grigorovich and Admiral Essen, are participating in hostilities with Ukrainian forces, which began in February after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an invasion of the country. The Makarov, an Admiral Grigorovich-class frigate, is one of Russia’s newest naval ships, having been commissioned in 2017, and is described as one of the most powerful ships in the Black Sea. They are to be capable of executing long-range strikes, conducting anti-submarine warfare, and carrying out escort missions. Unlike their Soviet-era predecessors, the new ships are designed for multiple roles. Russias flagship frigate equipped with new generation hypersonic cruise missiles has arrived in the South African port of Richards Bay for exercises that will include China, Russias RIA state. Navy Captain and maritime strategist told National Review that the strike was a “significant blow” to Russia. The Admiral Gorshkov class is the successor to the Neustrashimy and Krivak-class frigates. That ship was also hit by a Neptune missile, an indigenously developed system. The strike on the Makarov comes just three weeks after the Ukrainian military sunk the Moskova, the Russian navy’s flagship in the maritime blockade of Ukraine. Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said today that the United States had “no information” about the strike. Yesterday, Russia protested what it called a 'dangerous act' executed by the US Navy in the Eastern Mediterranean, releasing a video clip that appeared to show the USS Gravely pulling alongside. It shows the Chinese jet appearing to approach just in front of the plane before veering. Photos of a ship burning, claimed to be the Makarov by users, were circulating on social media, though these have been unconfirmed. The Pentagon released a video of the interaction taken from the cockpit of the U.S. Frigates can be built faster and cheaper than destroyers, however, and the US Navy hopes Constellation-class ships will boost its overall numbers, while still bringing needed capabilities. military RQ-4 Global Hawk surveillance drone had been circling the area, indicating that an incident may have occurred.
